8 Selfcare Tips for Entrepreneurs that Work in Home Office

From the moment you decide to have your own business, trying to balance work with personal life becomes a great test of mental health.

Here I can list some of the missions of working at home such as finding a specific place to do the job, being able to do your job without being distracted by other people who live with you and will eventually talk to you, knowing how to stop even if you haven't been able to do all of the work pending, among a thousand other things...

Well, I have brand news for you, it is like that, it is difficult and you are not alone in this!

Below I have listed some tips that I believe can help you not lose your head while working in your business, at home.

1. Have well-defined schedules

Organize your work schedule and know exactly when to stop. Of course, eventually it may vary and you will need to work overtime, but this division of work/rest hours will be good for your mind.

2. Create a morning routine

It seems like a self-help book, but it may actually work for some people to always keep a routine in the morning. Waking up at the same time, going for a walk, having a great breakfast, reading a book are habits that will give you strength to start your day well and improve your job performance.

3. Don't have too many demands and learn to say no

When we have a big project in progress, we tend to have bigger goals and charge us more than normal, but the truth is that in order to achieve the goals, we need to focus on something. When we are overwhelmed we are not as efficient as we would be if we were focused on a single goal.

And the most difficult thing for self-employed people is to learn to say no. Learning to say no to things that people who live with you ask for, learning to deny a job that is not going to be worth the time and dedication invested are very important for your productivity and your focus to remain on that goal.

4. Clean up your workspace

Working in a clean space is super important too. Try to always before start working, certified that your table as clean as possible, only with what is necessary in order to avoid distractions.

5. Choose a workspace for you

Defining a specific space for work is mainly in order to be able to make a separation between the work space and the rest space, since being in the same space day and night will drive you crazy and look like you are always working.

6. Dress to work

It may seem silly to spend your clothes, makeup and perfum to stay at home, but psychologically speaking it is a nice thing to try if you want to feel that you are taking the work seriously.

7. Get out and get some fresh air

Whether walking with your dog, having coffee, going for a walk in the park, going out for a while and taking a break from work will help you restore your energy.

8. Respect lunch time

Without realizing it, we spend all time working and leave behind lunch time or have lunch super fast and then go back to work, because our minds are still there in the thousand pending demands for the day. But will taking an hour break for lunch make such a difference? Give yourself that moment as a break to come back more willing and get more productive.

These were some tips for those who would like to keep their sanity working in home office, because I know how difficult it is. I confess that many are based on my own experiences and that really made a difference in my day by day, but it is a matter of understanding what is best suited to your reality!
